F1 Review 1976 Hunt for the Title
Uploaded on May 24, 2009 Adam Duke / Duke Videos Footage Type: Consumer or DVD Restrictions: Only authorised users may downloadFormula One 1976 Review - Hunt for the Title is the DVD review of the 1976 Formula 1 season. This was the year when Britain's James Hunt, in the McLaren, amazingly clinched the Formula One Drivers Championship during the final Grand Prix of the season in Japan.
The reigning Champion, Niki Lauda in the Ferrari, started the 1976 season as the favourite for the Championship. His nearest rival, Emerson Fittipaldi, made the patriotic switch from McLaren to the Brazilian funded Copersucar team. This left a hole at McLaren... it was filled by the ambitious British hopeful with the playboy image, James Hunt, to set the scene for a dramatic season of racing.
Tyrrell stole the limelight early on in the season, not for their results, but through the unveiling of their revolutionary six-wheeled P34 - it certainly was a unique sight to F1 fans. Hunt quickly adapted to life at McLaren and, unfazed by Lauda's early dominance, continued to pick up valuable points and podium finishes.
The 1976 season however will probably be best remembered for Niki Lauda's horrific accident at the Nurburgring that nearly ended his life and saw him rushed to hospital with major burns. His resilience and dedication to racing saw him make a remarkable recovery, returning six weeks later to ensure a thrilling climax to a season that ended with only one point separating 1st and 2nd place in the championship. Again it was the last eventful race in the rain in Japan that decided the title.
Brunswick Films were pioneers in the embryonic days of Formula One production, when sponsors controlled the demand for footage, and before the era of global TV coverage began. They have skilfully combined film from their famous archive - including some previously unseen material - to create a review that captures the essence of a very special era in Grand Prix racing.
The 1976 Formula 1 season is perfectly summarised in this 52 minute DVD using archive footage from Brunswick Films. The review is a wonderful piece of Grand Prix nostalgia in which the dashing James Hunt, driving for McLaren, thrillingly clinched the 1976 Formula One Drivers Championship on the final Grand Prix of the season.
Now you can relive the key events from the 1976 Grand Prix season on this DVD.

"Brilliant" Classic and Sports Car
This DVD brings together action-packed footage of some of the greatest racing drivers and rally stars doing battle around Britain in standard family saloons.
The Avon Tour of Britain was designed to put ordinary cars, straight from the showroom, to the ultimate test on racetracks and rally stages during a 1,000-mile journey.
Over three years, the Tour attracted the biggest names in motorsport, including Formula One greats Graham Hill, James Hunt and Jody Scheckter and rally stars like Roger Clark, Tony Pond and Andrew Cowan. They could not resist the challenge of fast and furious competition in standard saloons on iconic race circuits, including Silverstone, Oulton Park and Snetterton, and demanding special stages, including the always challenging Welsh mountains. There’s even a drag race at Santa Pod in the first year!
All the major motor manufacturers were determined to prove their machines had the reliability, performance and style to survive hundreds of miles of tough driving by some of the toughest drivers in the business. Datsun brought its Bluebirds, Ford the Escorts and Capris, Triumph had its Dolomite Sprint and Vauxhall the Magnum. Rover were there, along with Mazda, Lada and BMW, plus, of course, the Americans got in on the act with the awesomely powerful Chevrolet Camaro.
The classic confrontations between race and rally greats in standard road cars makes for compelling viewing, the driving geniuses power sliding these family favourites around Cadwell and Mallory Park, before switching to the grass, gravel and grit of rallying.
Avon Tour of Britain 1973-75 brings you all the action from each year. In fact, this DVD’s coverage is so comprehensive it features not one, but two films about the incredible 1974 event!
"For three years in the mid-1970s, the Tour of Britain pitted stars of racing and rallying against each other in races and rallies around the country. You can just imagine the classic capers involving the likes of Graham Hill, Roger Clark, James Hunt and Tony Pond. Watch this film and see if you're right" Autosport
"This brilliant DVD comprising four 1973-75 films (112 mins in total) chronicles one of Britain's best motor sport events. F1 aces such as Hill and Hunt took on rally legends Roger Clark, Pond et al in caged-up, bog-standard motors at the UK's greatest venues" Classic and Sports Car

We are the Lambeth Boys
Uploaded on Apr 13, 2009 Adam Duke / Duke Videos Footage Type: Consumer or DVD Restrictions: Only authorised users may downloadWe are the Lambeth Boys is a fascinating glimpse into the everyday lives of working class young people in the Britain of the 1950s. This pioneering documentary – part of the Free Cinema movement - was one of the first films to give this section of the community a voice, and remains an important and ground-breaking work.
Made for the Ford Motor Company’s ‘Look at Britain’ series, We are the Lambeth Boys was directed by Karel Reisz, who would go on to direct critically-acclaimed feature films such as Saturday Night Sunday Morning and the award-winning The French Lieutenant’s Woman. His ‘fly-on-the-wall’ style allowed his subjects to speak for themselves, revealing their hopes and fears, their loves and hates as a revolution in youth culture offered new opportunities, and new challenges.
We are the Lambeth Boys was among the innovative films which paved the way for the modern observational style of documentary. Reisz’s subjects are the boys and girls who attend the Alford House Youth Club in London’s Kennington. We see them at work, at school and, most importantly, at the youth club. It was here the young people could meet up to chat, to debate, to play cricket, to gossip and to dance. Five decades on, this archive film offers a snapshot of the period when Britain’s social values were on the verge of being transformed forever, and lets those who would lead the transformation speak for themselves.
The soundtrack comes from jazz great Johnny Dankworth, while respected British television actor Jon Rollason narrates.
The brilliance of We are the Lambeth Boys was recognised in its own time – it represented Britain at the Venice Film Festival and won the Grand Prix at the short film festival in Tours, France – and it remains an important piece of social history as well as a ground-breaking piece of film making.
