Joey Dunlop The TT Wins

Joey Dunlop The TT Wins

Uploaded on Oct 12, 2009 Adam Duke / Duke Videos Footage Type: Consumer or DVD Restrictions: Only authorised users may download

"This is almost certainly the ultimate Joey Dunlop DVD" Streetfighters

William Joseph Dunlop, O.B.E, M.B.E. - Isle of Man TT legend and the undisputed King of the Mountain.

This is the most comprehensive collection of action-packed race footage celebrating Joey’s victories at the TT ever gathered together. After an exhaustive search of our own and many other producers’ archives - as well as a worldwide appeal for footage - we bring you exceptional highlights from a staggering 24 of Joey’s record-breaking 26 TT wins.

While we have been unable to trace any race footage from his first win - the 1977 Jubilee TT - and the 1984 Formula One, the incredible film we have located charts a TT record which is unlikely ever to be bettered.

It shows Joey as a young charger, challenging and beating stars like Mick Grant and Roger Marshall, the ‘big bike’ glory years when Joey scored six F1 wins in a row and his domination of the 125cc and 250cc classes in the 1990s. We are reminded of how 'Yer Maun' overcame injury, horrendous weather, a missing exhaust and even a sunken boat to claim victory after victory, and stunned the racing world in 1995 when, as a 43-year-old, he won the Senior TT on the Honda RC45 - his first big bike win for almost a decade.

Share the excitement as he sees off young challengers like Carl Fogarty, Steve Hislop, David Jefferies and John McGuinness, remaining as determined as ever to add to his record-breaking tally of wins. In 2000, at the age of 48, he defied all the odds to take three TT wins in a week for the third time - the first man to achieve this incredible feat - and his seventh F1 victory after what many believe to be his greatest ever ride. Tragically this was to be his final TT, but it was a fitting end to Joey’s amazing relationship with the awe-inspiring Mountain Course.

Joey Dunlop - The TT Wins brings you action-packed highlights, including on-board footage, from these and many more history-making moments. Along the way we hear from Joey and his rivals, including brother Robert with whom he enjoyed some of his toughest battles in the Ultra-Lightweight TTs.

On a rainy April day, top manufacturers and leading racers came together to contest the inaugural World Superbike Championship event, a showcase for production-based machines. The lucky few at that first event were witnessing the birth of what would become one of the most fiercely contested and prestigious racing championships on Earth.

Among the riding stars determined to make their mark were former 500cc World Champion Marco Lucchinelli, Isle of Man TT legend Joey Dunlop, 250cc Grand Prix racer Davide Tardozzi and many more, including Roger Burnett, Fred Merkel, Roger Marshall, Stephane Mertens and Bubba Shobert.

This action-packed DVD brings you essential highlights from both 30-lap races around the 1.96-mile Donington circuit. Each leg of the first ever World Superbike Championship event produced edge-of-the-seat racing, with passes, crashes and last lap drama. You travel on board with Burnett as he tumbles out of race one and then battles through the field in race two, watch Dunlop prove his short circuit skills and experience the thrilling dice between Italian stars Tardozzi and Lucchinelli as they go head-to-head until the dramatic final lap crash which would decide the winner.

Witness history in the making as the World Superbike Championship is born.

Best ever TT coverage....get the full feel of speed around the course" Motorcycle News

Join the world’s greatest road racers to experience the awesome 2009 Isle of Man TT from on board the bikes!

This DVD features three complete on-bike laps of the legendary Mountain Course recorded during the record-breaking 2009 TT, plus a complete on board race from Billown. It was the fastest-ever TT, and now you can get as close as possible to the action from the 37.73-mile circuit. Courtesy of the latest filmmaking technology deployed by North One Television, we bring you four thrilling, edge-of-the-seat laps.

First up is TT legend John McGuinness, putting his HM Plant Honda Supersport bike through its paces in practice. The camera is positioned on the back of the 600cc machine, showing the outright lap record holder jumping out of his seat on the bumps and leaning into each of the hundreds of bends. You’ll see exactly how close the riders get to the scenery - you’d swear he’s scraping the hedges between Glen Helen and Cronk-Y-Voddy, and his bounce through Barregarrow will have you leaping out of your seat!

Gary Johnson had the honour of leading away the Dainese Superbike race, and the footage captured by the rear-facing camera lets you see his 1000cc Uel Duncan Honda bucking and sliding as he races into lap one. Just 10 seconds later, McGuinness was off and by Ballaugh he’s with Johnson - this jaw-dropping footage lets you share the pressure of having the TT’s fastest man bearing down on you.

The ever determined Guy Martin is our guide to a lap of the Pokerstars Senior TT, the camera mounted low on the left-hand side of the Hydrex Honda Superbike. You’ll witness Martin’s incredible precision as he guides the 1000cc missile around the lap, just inches from the kerbs. The speed he catches, and passes, a rival shows just how committed Martin is.

Finally, we bring you a complete TT race from on board! The 4.25-mile Billown circuit hosted the Lightweight 250cc TT, and we experience all eight laps of one race courtesy of Barry Davidson. The rear-facing camera brings you the mass start and some truly nail-biting passes.

The 2009 Isle of Man TT Official Review delivers comprehensive coverage of a record-breaking event, with edge-of-the-seat drama from every race, special features and informed commentary from Steve Parrish and James Whitham.

Produced for the first time by North One Television, there’s more on-board cameras with top riders than ever before and the slow-motion sequences recorded with the Hi-Motion camera are a spellbinding innovation. The skill it takes to control 240bhp superbikes at over 190mph has never been so spectacularly captured.

Experience every vital moment, including John McGuinness scoring his 15th TT win and setting a new outright lap record - an average speed of 131.578mph around the 37.73-mile course. There’s the unforgettable PokerStars Senior TT triumph by Steve Plater, the fearsome battles between Ian Hutchinson and Guy Martin, the heartbreak of Bruce Anstey and Cameron Donald, the emotional return of the Dunlop name to the winner’s step and much more.

Plus, Sidecar legend Dave Molyneux’s 14th TT win and the inaugural TTXGP - a race for clean emission motorcycles which once again put the TT at the forefront of motorcycle technology.

Dramatic action, incredible on-board footage, interviews and behind-the-scenes features make this the essential record of another historic year for the Isle of Man TT.

"This year's footage, courtesy of North One Television, has been some of the best we've been treated to" Motorcycle News

"It doesn't matter how many times you watch racing from the Island, it never becomes any less compelling. Recommended: watching a sidecar outfit hurtle down Bray Hill. Not Recommended: sitting on that sidecar outfit" Simon Arron, Daily Telegraph

"A  bonanza of race footage from helicopters, on-board and tracksie cameras, pit and paddock coverage and more. The action flows right through practice week and race week with commentary from Steve Parrish and James Whitham, and includes all of the usual racing classes from Senior to Supersport and everything in between - check out Cameron Donald's unofficial lap record set during practice and then his monumentally unlucky crash afterwards. Also featured are the sidecars in frenetic three-wheeled action and complete coverage of the TTXGP in all its aphonic glory, plus the iconic parade lap by Agostini and Rossi. Donington Grands Prix 1937 and 38

Donington Grands Prix 1937 and 38

"Classic archive footage" Autosport

"The racing action is utterly glorious" Octane

"Sure to please" Auto Express

"Remarkable" Classic and Sports Car

As the shadow of impending war fell across Europe in the late 1930s, the might of Nazi Germany arrived in Britain to demonstrate the dominance of the so-called ‘master race’ and launch a revolution in motor racing.

The legendary 1937 and 1938 Grands Prix at the Donington Park circuit have been the subject of numerous books and articles, but now you can actually watch and hear the ‘thunder in the park’ in extraordinary archive footage unearthed by Duke.

This essential DVD features the films of producer Geoffrey Fairrie, which, while they may be short, are absolute gems.

The arrival of Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union in Britain created a stir among fans and competitors, and the awesome performance of these world-beating cars left everyone who witnessed the 1937 Grand Prix stunned. One year later the German teams were back and, despite a new and powerful Italian Maserati, no one could challenge the might silver machines of the Fatherland.

The entry list for both reads like a who’s who of pre-war racing - Rudolf Caracciola, Herman Lang, Richard Seaman, Prince Bira, Manfred von Brauchitsch, Hermann Muller and many more. Plus, of course, there are the iconic cars, including the W125 and W154 of Mercedes and Auto Union’s D and C types, as well as ERA, Delahaye, MG and other famous marques.

The excellent footage, including much from 1938 in colour, shows the cars power sliding through corners and launching into the air over jumps, at speeds of up to 200mph! Famous names, including Redgate, the Melbourne Hairpin and the Craner Curves are all here, even if they look just a little different to today.

Watch Bernd Rosemeyer take his Auto Union to what would prove to be the German ace’s final win and Tazio Nuvolari fight off the charging Mercedes drivers Lang and Seaman to secure a second British victory for Auto Union.

There is early slow motion camerawork allowing you to watch these glorious machines as legendary drivers guide them around the challenging Donington track, and the evocative roar as the Silver Arrows thunder in the Park.

"This compilation of two pre-war films produced by Geoffrey Fairrie at the epic 1937 and '38 GPs is remarkable. Just 29 minutes long, it superbly captures the impact of these visiting titans from Germany. Watch Nuvolari's impatient pitstop in '38 and the slow-motion action" Classic and Sports Car

"Stories abound of the Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows' only visits to Britain for the 1937 and '38 British GPs at Donington Park. Now you can watch classic archive footage of Bernd Rosemeyer and Tazio Nuvolari winning for Auto Union in a crushing display of pre-war grand prix superiority" Autosport

"To view any period footage of the Silver Arrows is a pleasure; in colour it's a must. Shot by Geoffrey Fairrie, it covers the Grands Prix held at Donington in 1937 and '38, but kicks off with Atco-powered oval 'racers' - proto-karts if you will - in action on packed seaside promenades. The racing action is utterly glorious, and Neville Hay's commentary is instructive rather than intrusive. And any excuse to see the 4.5-litre unsupercharged Delahayes, if only fleetingly, is ok with us" Octane

"If you enjoy classic Grands Prix but would rather not watch grainy black and white images, then this DVD with colour archive footage is sure to please. Although the running time is limited, helpful voiceovers give you a run-through of the races, won by drivers including Tazio Nuvolari and Bernd Rosemeyer. The DVD also covers the pre-war battle between Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union's Silver Arrows" Auto Express
