The First World Superbike Meeting Donington Park 1988

In 1988, England’s famous Donington Park circuit was the venue for an historic and thrilling race meeting – the first ever World Superbike Championship round. Now you can experience the pulsating action as a new motorcycle series bursts into life. 

On a rainy April day, top manufacturers and leading racers came together to contest the inaugural World Superbike Championship event, a showcase for production-based machines. The lucky few at that first event were witnessing the birth of what would become one of the most fiercely contested and prestigious racing championships on Earth. 

Among the riding stars determined to make their mark were former 500cc World Champion Marco Lucchinelli, Isle of Man TT legend Joey Dunlop, 250cc Grand Prix racer Davide Tardozzi and many more, including Roger Burnett, Fred Merkel, Roger Marshall, Stephane Mertens and Bubba Shobert.

 This action-packed DVD brings you essential highlights from both 30-lap races around the 1.96-mile Donington circuit. Each leg of the first ever World Superbike Championship event produced edge-of-the-seat racing, with passes, crashes and last lap drama. You travel on board with Burnett as he tumbles out of race one and then battles through the field in race two, watch Dunlop prove his short circuit skills and experience the thrilling dice between Italian stars Tardozzi and Lucchinelli as they go head-to-head until the dramatic final lap crash which would decide the winner.

Join the world’s greatest road racers to experience the awesome 2009 Isle of Man TT from on board the bikes!

This DVD features three complete on-bike laps of the legendary Mountain Course recorded during the record-breaking 2009 TT, plus a complete on board race from Billown. It was the fastest-ever TT, and now you can get as close as possible to the action from the 37.73-mile circuit. Courtesy of the latest filmmaking technology deployed by North One Television, we bring you four thrilling, edge-of-the-seat laps.

First up is TT legend John McGuinness, putting his HM Plant Honda Supersport bike through its paces in practice. The camera is positioned on the back of the 600cc machine, showing the outright lap record holder jumping out of his seat on the bumps and leaning into each of the hundreds of bends. You’ll see exactly how close the riders get to the scenery - you’d swear he’s scraping the hedges between Glen Helen and Cronk-Y-Voddy, and his bounce through Barregarrow will have you leaping out of your seat!

Gary Johnson had the honour of leading away the Dainese Superbike race, and the footage captured by the rear-facing camera lets you see his 1000cc Uel Duncan Honda bucking and sliding as he races into lap one. Just 10 seconds later, McGuinness was off and by Ballaugh he’s with Johnson - this jaw-dropping footage lets you share the pressure of having the TT’s fastest man bearing down on you.

The ever determined Guy Martin is our guide to a lap of the Pokerstars Senior TT, the camera mounted low on the left-hand side of the Hydrex Honda Superbike. You’ll witness Martin’s incredible precision as he guides the 1000cc missile around the lap, just inches from the kerbs. The speed he catches, and passes, a rival shows just how committed Martin is.

Finally, we bring you a complete TT race from on board! The 4.25-mile Billown circuit hosted the Lightweight 250cc TT, and we experience all eight laps of one race courtesy of Barry Davidson. The rear-facing camera brings you the mass start and some truly nail-biting passes.

British Rally Championship Round 5 Ulster International Rally

Pirelli TEG Sport crew Mark Higgins and Bryan Thomas took a lonely victory on this weekend’s Toddsleap.com Ulster International Rally, the fifth round of the MSA British Rally Championship.

Their eventual winning margin of nearly three minutes from local youngster Alastair Fisher, partnered by Higgins’ former co-driver Rory Kennedy, certainly does not tell the whole story though, as the event was full of intrigue from the start.

We'll start with the world headlines and for the second week in a row it's not all bad. Then the car that could - and should - be good news for Chrysler. A new people-carrier from Peugeot next, a revitalised line-up for Toyota's Yaris, and two success stories from Ford - Taurus and Fiesta, and that's a promise.

Powerboat P1 - Event 4 - Sweden

26 Team SW1 Capital and 88 SNAV OSG have been named Scandinavian Grand Prix of the Sea champions in the SuperSport and Evolution classes respectively.

Brits Daniel Cramphorn and Kim Collins secured their first Grand Prix of the Sea title after winning both the Sprint and Endurance races in Gothenburg with ease and subsequently edge towards the leading pack in the overall SuperSport Championship standings.

The SNAV OSG crew of Hannes Bohinc and Giancarlo Cangiano retained their status as the in-form team in the Evolution-class with a hard-earned first place in Saturday's Sprint race and a second place in Sunday's prolonged Endurance race.

We're in Mongolia this week with the Asian Motocross Championship, there is another hotly fought race between Audi and Mercedes at the latest round of the DTM in the Netherlands and Felipe Massa is continuing his recovery but there is surprise news about his replacement.
